The dance of dis-ease

I have just returned from a trip to Ireland to see my relatives. We didn't get there in time before my Uncle John died and we also missed his funeral as it was two days later (they bury them quick in Ireland).

My uncle John died of liver cancer. I have been wondering why did he manifest this? As a therapist I am more than aware of the mind-body connection and have seen conditions reverse in clients so know its value and merit. John never drank, never smoked, I don't ever remember hearing him curse or say a bad word about anyone, he was a quietly spoken, kind man with twinkling eyes and a dry sense of humour. He was very caring, adored his family and work (he was the town's undertaker and also ran a garage). Him and his wife have diligently tended to my father's grave for us (he is buried at the graveyard in Ireland where many of my family are and now sadly John has joined them).

Whilst in Ireland I heard about something that happened in his childhood and wondered whether that was a contibuting factor, but he seemed to have gotten over that and was able to speak about it without too much trauma. So that didn't seem to fit for me. Was it the Gilbert's Syndrome that runs through that side of the family (his sister, my aunty Vonnie also died of liver cancer when she was 49)? Although that is not supposed to be a life threatening disease. Then one of my relatives told me that John had made a pact with God a few years ago, to take the cancer away from his daughter who had it (she had breast cancer) and that he would gladly take it on so that she could be free to look after her young children and have a good life. He gave thanks for his life and said that he had had his children and watched them grow and now it was her turn. Is this what happened?

All of my training and theories seemed to have gone out the window and I was left wondering whether we can really say the mind-body theory works.

I also saw clearly how far I have managed to come in my lifetime in overcoming some of the cultural downsides to being Irish. As well as the genetic poverty consciousness there is a mawkish need to continually talk about what is wrong. One of my aunts always talks about terrible things that have happened or are happening, I don’t think she even realises it. As we were driving down a road, she would point out things such as “that’s where so and so was killed in a car crash”, or “the man that lives in that house lost his son…..” etc etc. They do tend to indulge in the awfulness of everything and that is quite a heavy energy. The awfulness of things is what unites them. But as a therapist I know that they are attracting more awfulness because that is all they concentrate on. This Aunt is borderline leukaemia and not well at all, her daughter-in-law who is in her 20s and has a 3 year old son has been battling with leukaemia for the past four years – has she taken on her daughter-in-law's illness? Is their love for their family so great that they are taking on their illnesses? Is this part of their Soul contract?

Since coming home and reflecting on all of the above, I still believe in the mind-body connection as I have reversed health conditions in myself for the better (according to one Harley Street medical practitioner I should have been in a wheelchair by now) so I know it works.

There is so much depth to this subject, so much of it is to do with the free will of the individual. Another elderly relative passed on some great advice, he said "don't keep asking yourself why. You won't get the answers you seek. You will destroy yourself if you keep asking why." When I think of some of the major traumatic events in my life and the lives of those I love, this is good advice.

For now I am choosing to believe that the mind-body connection is relevant, that through our thoughts we can choose to create wellness or illness within our physical beings.

I would love to know your views on this subject (especially if you are a healthcare professional, healer or therapist).

Total Lunar Eclipse

The Eclipse window closes with tomorrow's Total Lunar Eclipse. It has been an intense Eclipse season and the effects of tomorrow's Lunar Eclipse will be with us for the next 5-6 months.
It has been kicking our butts to really let go of the old ways of doing, living, being and loving. If we try to bury our heads in the sand or go into denial these eclipses will bring about events to really kick us into touch.

In this 'one' year, we have been given the most amazing opportunity to completely re-write and re-do our lives in whatever way we want. If you have been meaning to change a bad habit, improve your health/mind/emotions, change your image, change jobs/relationships/location, the kick-ass eclipse energy is going to help you do it. You have to make the decision that the time is now. You have to decide that the time is finally here to get off your butt and get on with it. And the wonderful thing is, the Universe will support you, you are not going to be alone. You have to take total responsibility for your life now on every level.

We finally get the chance to show the world our True Selves, no more hiding behind the masks of who everyone else thinks we should be, or staying stuck in that comfortable old rut, it's time to throw back the cloaks that have been hiding our magnificence and proudly present ourselves to the waiting world. The world needs you. The world needs your light, your love and your amazing talents. It's time to get our act together, hold hands and show off for a change!

So treat yourself to that new make-over on whatever level you need it. There is a world waiting for you.

Blessings

Valentine's

Whether you are on your own or have a partner, today gives us an excuse to treat ourselves to some of the sweeter things in life, such as:-

- Giving ourselves a hug for being so utterly lovable

- Sending love out to all those we know and don't know so everyone can have some love today

- A bath full of your most expensive bubble bath (don't forget the candles!)

- Wearing your favourite scent

- Wearing something that makes you feel fabulous

- Buying yourself some Valentines choccies

- Putting a bottle of your favourite bubbly in the fridge for later

- Going for a walk to your favourite nature spot

- Going to your favourite place for lunch

- Listening to your favourite music

- Watching your favourite romantic movie/s [I wonder if I can convince my hubby to let me watch Dirty Dancing tonight? :-) ]

- Cooking something incredible for yourself to eat tonight, setting the table with candles and heart shaped sprinkles, using your best china, glass and cutlery and the posh napkins.

-Curling up at the end of the day, wrapped in your favourite throw/blanket, glass of something nice in hand, choccies at your side, listening or watching something you love and giving thanks for today, for the opportunity to share the love vibe with everybody today.

May you be blessed with an abundance of love every day of your lives.

ASCENSION TIPS February + Feng Shui update

How y’all doing then? Well there has been some post New Year fall-out as setting our good intentions for the year has led to a short, sharp period of clearing old stuff. Here we have noticed an increase in requests for The Healing Prayers Circle which is always another indicator of how people are coping with the energies and what they are coping with. Many are preparing to leave their Earthwalk and cross over, it is as if the Spring Equinox is already pulling a lot of them and I would not be surprised if they will have left by the time the Vernal Equinox comes around. All in all January has been an interesting journey which we continue to ride out during February.

ASCENSION SYMPTOMS

Some have experienced a lot of pain in the body, especially in the neck, middle and lower back. Some have had aching arms and hands, some ankles and feet. Others have had problems with their teeth and mouths. We have been shifting some really old stuff and it has been painful at times to say the least. Thankfully this phase didn’t last long.

However after it ended a lot of us were feeling a bit fuzzy and woolly headed and suddenly seemed to have lost our impetus. This has been frustrating for those who were making great strides with their intentions for this year. But all is not lost yet. As you know these phases come and go as part of our Ascension process. The most important thing is to keep your eye on the prize/goal and keep heading in that direction with an open heart and mind and trusting that the Universe will guide your way. Your energy will pick up again and you will get yourselves back on track, it’s just that sometimes when we shift old stuff we need a little rest, a little period of integration before we get back on track again.

Emotionally some have been through the wringer as they have been sifting and sorting what really has to go in this ‘one’ year and some tough decisions have had to be made. Allow yourselves the space to grieve for what you are leaving behind. You know that you have made the right decision/s, now you need to allow yourself to ride the waves of emotions that are involved until you come out the other side of it all. You already know that you are growing in strength with each decision you make and that you will not regret any of this.

Spiritually a great deal has been happening. After all the hard work and processing last year we have been retuned and are continually being refined like a precious gemstone so that we shine our brightest this coming year. There have been great highs spiritually for some, with a stronger connection and understanding of the messages coming through and feeling as if you really are being looked after by a benevolent, loving force.

Follow the Ascension code for wellbeing as outlined in the ‘Ascension Tips’ book (if you don’t have a copy, contact us for the details) and keep taking your ‘Ascension Support’ essence. I take mine every morning, it seems to settle down all that has gone on in dreamtime (which I have to say has been extremely active this past month) and helps me to feel balanced before I start my day.

Please Note:
These Ascension updates are for information purposes only and are not intended to diagnose any kind of dis-ease or malady you may be experiencing. If you have concerns about your health, I strongly advise you to see a qualified medical practitioner. (Don’t get carried away in spiritual la-la land and override any messages that your body may be trying to give you). If in doubt – check it out!

FENG SHUI DIARIES – Update

Well Chinese New Year is nearly upon us, am I ready – nope! I am getting there but I am not too worried if I don’t quite manage to get everything done. The Chinese New Year festival lasts two weeks so I am sure I will get most of it done by the time this lovely festival ends.

On the eve of Chinese New Year you will need to take down all of last year’s Feng Shui cures and throw out your salt cures (best way is to tip them down the loo and flush away immediately). Some companies say that you shouldn’t re-use last year’s items, well I don’t agree as not everyone can afford to keep buying a new set every year. Washing them thoroughly then smudging them with sage (ensuring you have at least one window open when you do this) will banish any residual negativity, you can also use ‘The Cleanser’ spray mist for this (it’s quicker and easier to use this instead and your house won’t smell of sagey smoke – which I don’t mind actually as I absolutely love the smell of sweet sage).

If you haven’t managed to get everything done, try to ensure that you have at least done these two things; (1) emptied all of your cupboards, fridge/freezer etc of all out of date stuff and disposed of them, (2) thoroughly clean the kitchen especially the cooker before Chinese New Year.

Traditionally the Chinese would never use knives or scissors on Chinese New Year as they believed this would cut their luck for the coming year. So they would prepare all the food in advance and plan foods that could be eaten without needing to be cut.

My favourite tradition (taught to me by a Chinese Malaysian friend) is to use incense to welcome in the Spirits on Chinese New Year, you open your front door and use the incense to usher on the spirits of the New Year. You open the back door and use the incense to welcome in the spirits of your ancestors to share your feast and to provide protection for you and your home for the coming year.

Place a beautiful bowl with 9 oranges (or tangerines/satsumas/clementines) in the centre of your living room and kitchen to welcome in the Chinese New Year, they represent abundance on all levels. Have a lovely Chinese meal and enjoy the blessings this coming year will bring for you.

We have lots of reasons to celebrate this month, so make the most of it and have fun!

Blessings to you all
